Obituary published in The Advocate on: 6/19/01 LEBLANC, RUFFIN JOSEPH Born on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1919, he passed away on Father's Day, Sunday, June 17, 2001. He was a native of LaBarre in Pointe Coupee Parish and was a resident of Burnside for 40 years. Visitation was at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday. Visiting at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, La. 22, Darrow, from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Entombment in Ascension Catholic Mausoleum, Donaldsonville. He served his country for 30 years as a radioman in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed aboard the USS Portsmouth, USS Corregidor, USS Columbus and USS Murray and other ships, as well as at the U.S. Embassy in London. He was chief radioman at the Yalta Conference with President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Survived by his wife, Ione Schexnaydre LeBlanc of Burnside; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lori and Kenneth Ridgdell of Burnside, Marcia and Mike Buker of Gonzales, Lydia and Joey Odom of Lake Charles, Hope and Martien Knijn, and Alida and Jeffrey Lewis of Lafayette; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kyle and Reneé LeBlanc of Cut Off and Keith LeBlanc of Baton Rouge; a sister and a sister-in-law of Baton Rouge, Daisy Borne and Kathryn LeBlanc; a brother and sister-in-law, Bobby and Pat LeBlanc of Houston; 11 grandsons and 10 granddaughters. Preceded in death by his parents, Clebert and Alida Achee LeBlanc, who were of Morganza; a brother, Charles "Bert" LeBlanc; a sister and brother-in-law, Kitty and Lawrence Dispenza; and a brother-in-law, Roger Borne, all of whom were of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Theresa of Avila School in Gonzales or Hospice of Baton Rouge.
