RAYNE - Thomas LeBlanc, 77, died in Lafayette on Thursday, April 6, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Gossen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery #1. Shelby Ray LeBlanc INDIAN BAYOU - Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2000 at Indian Bayou United Methodist Cemetery for Shelby Ray LeBlanc, 58, of Crowley. Mr. LeBlanc died on Friday, April 7, 2000 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. Officiating for the services will be Rev. Ross Genger. The VFW Post 6720 will present the military honors. Survivors include one sister, Betty Roller of Crowley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Ruth Meaux LeBlanc; three brothers, Morris, Norris and Berkley LeBlanc. He served in the United States Marines during the Vietnam era. Duhon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. George Roy LeBlanc Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today, April 11, at St. Michael Catholic Church for George Roy LeBlanc, 89, who died at 4:10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, at the Landmark Retirement Center in Crowley. Father Aaron Melancon officiated for the services. Burial was held in St. Joseph Mausoleum in Rayne. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel. Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Elaine L. and Ashton Cassedy of Crowley; three grandchildren and their spouses, Allen George and Romna Cassedy of Crowley, Rustin Matthew and Gretchen Cassedy of Crowley, and Mollie and Bobby Hanks of Crowley; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline Elise Cassedy, Megan Elizabeth Cassedy, Matthew David Hanks and Nicholas Roy Hanks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne Chavuin LeBlanc; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Moise LeBlanc; and his sister, Rena LeBlanc. Mr. LeBlanc was a retired farmer of Acadia Parish and an avid hunter and fisherman. Pallbearers were Leonard L. “Buck” Leonards, Fredrick J. Gossen, Samuel Theunissen, Roberts A. Hanks, Bryan G. Leonards and Charles C. Bier Sr. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Wagner, Johnny M. Fruge, Charles C. Bier Sr. and Donald John. Hilda LeBlanc “Sweetpea” Rodgers Funeral services will be held at a 1 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Delhomme Bertrand Chapel of The Flowers for Hilda M. “Sweetpea” Rodgers, 81, who died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2000, at Lafayette General Hospital. Reverend Monsignor Harry Benefiel will celebrate the Mass. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Crowley. Mrs. Rodgers, the former Hilda “Sweetpea” LeBlanc, was a native of Crowley, the daughter of the late Alphee LeBlanc and the former Alice Mauboules. A graduate of St. Michael High School in Crowley, she then attended S.L.I., now U.L., where she was a member of the Red Jackets and Phi Mu Sorority. A resident of Lafayette since 1937, she taught at Spencer Business College and later at Southern Technical College, retiring after teaching for 20 years. Mrs. Rodgers was an active member of St. Jules Catholic Church, receiving the Honorius Denarius Award from the Bishop in 1997 for charity work she had done there; a Pink Lady at Lafayette General, serving over 1100 volunteer hours; loved Mardi Gras, serving on the Ladies Committee of the Krewe of Gabriel; a member of La Causerie, and had helped with the Lafayette High School PTA during her childrens’ years there. Sweetpea lived her life to the fullest, loving her family, treasured friends and her church. Mrs. Rodgers is survived by two sons and their wives, Tom and Carol Jackson Rodgers of Pensacola, Fla., and Robert and Evalyn Adams Rodgers of Lafayette; one daughter and her husband, Janice and Bill Bolivar of King’s Mountain, N.C.; two sisters, Louise L. Barbour of Crowley and Frances L. Johnson of Lake Charles; one brother and his wife, Leo and Jeanette LeBlanc of Crowley; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Paul (Thelma) LeBlanc of Crowley; and five grandchildren, Alison R. Walmsley of Savannah, Ga., Kimberly Rodgers of Baton Rouge, Calen Rodgers of Pensacola, Fla., Kyle Bolivar and Barrett Bolivar, both of King’s Mountain, N.C. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Rodgers; her second husband, Ernie Massimine; two brothers, Paul and Harvey LeBlanc; and a sister, Leona L. MacGregor. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations in her memory be made to St. Jules Catholic Church, American Heart Association or to your favorite charity. Visiting hours will be observed Friday from 4-8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of services. The funeral is under the direction of Delhomme Funeral Home, 1011 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette.
