Melrose Abbey
Melrose Abbey was established by the Cistercian order of monks in 1098
The present site was used for the an abbey to be build in 1146, but was raided by
Richard II in 1385. As soon as his forces retreated reconstruction began on the
building that you see in these photos.
It is believed that the Heart of Robert the Bruce is burried here
