Caerlaverock,Dumfries,Scotland



Caerlaverock was building began about 1277
The castle has a deep history with the Maxwell Family
and became a place of powerplay for King Edward I of England
The castle came in and out of seige untill 1640 when Caerlaverock
was permanently abondoned. Because there was no on protecting the
castle during the years after 1640 , there is graffiti inside the
walls dating back to 1700's.

You can see the moat that surrounds
the castle on all three sides.

Nithsdale Lodging Wall
This wall was ornately done in 1634 by
Robert Maxwell, the First Earl of Nithsdale
